HOMETOWN: Holland
OTHER SPONSORS: Volcom, Nitro, Electric, Nixon, Celtek
Where, when and why did you start snowboarding?
In The Netherlands on dry slopes, when I was 11 years old. Before that I used to ski but my brother changed into snowboarding, so I did it too after I saw what you could do with it.
When did you realize you want to become a pro snowboarder?
I just finished high school and didn't know what I wanted to do after. Snowboarding went good and some of my sponsors gave me the chance to afford a season in the snow. So I took it to see if I could become a pro.
What’s your favourite terrain right now and where do you want to improve in the future?
Park, but I definitely want to get better in the backcountry to hit some big jumps.
What’s the best/worst thing about being pro snowboarder?
The best is that you get to do what you love most: snowboarding! The worst is that you are on the road the most of the time, so it's hard to see friends and family.
Who are your influences in the sport itself and in life in general?
Stine Brun Kjeldaas. She taught me a lot about the professional way of snowboarding and showed me to look positive at everything in life.
What’s the biggest difference between living in Uden/Netherlands or Biarritz/France?
First of all I can surf in Biarritz, something I love to do. The weather is nicer. But my family still lives in Uden. :-(
What are your goals for the coming seasons?
To focus on my slope style contest and film for the Nitro movie.
Rocky Mountains or Alps?
Alps.
Braveheart or Sweetheart?
Both.
Ziggs or Snus?
Snus.
Beer or Moonshine?
Moonshine.
Steak or Vegimate?
Steak.
Hammock or 5star hotel?
5 star hotel.
Any shout outs?
Just be yourself, don't try to be someone else!
