When artists are especially talented, their work speaks for itself. And when an incredibly talented artist happens to love Vans, we’re usually down to design some shoes together. And when that same artist tells us that they love skateboarding and street culture, it’s a wrap because you know the heat is coming. Usugrow is that guy. Born in Fukushima, Japan, he is now based in Tokyo, Japan and is assaulting the art world with his tasteful skill and filling his studio with unbelievably cool stuff. He started his drawing career in 1993. Usugrow started drawing for various hard-core metal bands, hip-hop album covers, merchandise, clothing brands, shops, skateboard companies – basically whatever would keep the pen flowing. Now he has his own clothing line and is collaborating with other artists to create new pieces and product.

We can add to that extensive list an impressive product capsule for Vans Core footwear and apparel. Three shoes that are dipped in premium black with all the details you expect from a special project that we’re proud to stamp our names on. Laser etching, embroidery, and embossments display the artistic talent and taste level that Usugrow possesses. He chose to customize the Sk8 Hi, Half Cab, and AV Sk8 Low. The shirts complement the shoes and vice versa.
